Hey! I'm Cara Leighty!
I’m a voice actor and SOVAS™-nominated puppeteer based in Atlanta, GA; specializing in commercial and animation voiceover with a heart for children’s and faith-based media. My work also includes IVR, radio imaging, Christian podcasts, audio dramas and audiobooks. I’ve been behind the mic (off and on) since 2007, and in 2021 I started pursuing VO professionally. Creative expression has always fueled me! I was the kid who actually enjoyed reading out loud in class — textbooks and all. Turns out, that quirky love for words became the perfect foundation for the voiceover career I now get to pursue every single day!
I absolutely LOVE every genre of voiceover work! Well, except the boring stuff *cough* medical narration. With so many unique opportunities, this industry often feels more like play than actual work. And for me, nothing brings play to life quite like a puppet! After being raised in the 80's on Jim Henson, it seemed only natural for me to start pursuing the art of puppetry! I've always loved puppets! They just make EVERYTHING 100 times better! In 2023 I started pursuing this very fun and unique form of art; coaching and training with some of the most gifted puppeteers in the industry!

Puppets are funny, crazy beings - and are a lot harder to manipulate than you'd think! However, voiceover training actually turned out to be a huge blessing in terms of learning this particular art form! I’m excited to keep exploring the fascinating world of puppetry because there is a LOT to it! So when I’m not immersed in voiceover auditions, you can find me practicing eye-focus, lip-sync, and sweet dance moves with my beloved, furry, non-legged friend Davey — my ultimate sidekick! I'm excited to see how God uses me on this particular journey!
